Most of us have been lucky enough to be a guest at a wedding where the bride was generous enough to supply flip-flops for all the female guests.  Whoever originally came up with this idea is a genius.

Another great idea is to provide yourself and your bridal party with stylish flats that match your wedding colors.  These ideas can be found at Lori’s – the Sole of Chicago.

I have a client getting married this upcoming summer and she is buying adorable flats from The Dessy Group for her wedding party.  I also like how you can order other accessories like purses, tote bags and headbands that all match perfectly.

Having a cute pair of flats will help you and your bridal party last longer on the dance floor without ruining your wedding day look.

Brides have been accessorizing their wedding day hair for years!  The styles and trends have been changing recently and I’m loving the new looks!

Feathers have really gotten popular in the last year or two!  Feathers help create a  chic and modern look.  Something a little different!  A little sassy attitude can really be fun!

Add a splash of color to brighten up your look.  You can choose a color that goes well with your bouquet or the color of the bridesmaid’s dresses!  Colored flowers add a bold, vibrant look.

If you love the idea of something in your hair that sparkles consider a modern hair pin or brooch instead of a tiara.  Sparkle hair accessorize can really glam up your look!  I just love how soft and romantic this hair style is….the sparkle makes it really glamorous.

Headbands have taken over by storm in the fashion world!  Look at this amazingly unique wedding day hair accessory!  She really rocks the short hair cut with a ton of personality!

Finding a hairstyle and hair accessory that really fits the style of your wedding can really add to the overall look and feel of the event.

Special Escort Cards

December 6, 2009

I’m always talking about how personal passions, hobbies and family traditions make the best wedding details.  These adorable mini paper airplanes are the escort cards for a wedding of  pilots!  The bride and groom are both professional pilots.  What a great way to incorporate their passion! Just a little added touch without the entire wedding focusing on airplanes.  The guests really enjoyed looking on all the branches trying to find their plane!

As most of you know 1154 Lill is an amazing “create your own purse” boutique located in many cities.   It is the perfect idea for your bridesmaids gifts.  You can create them all yourself and surprise your ladies or you can host a purse making party and let them design their bag however they want!  You can even choose your wedding colors if you would like them to carry the purses the day of the wedding.

Below are some ideas I just created on their website:

Here is a great shot of 1154 Lill purses on the big day!  Every bridesmaid got a different color ruffle (pink, green, yellow, turquoise and purple)  that were all jewel toned to compliment the dresses.

As you can see……it can be used over and over again!  It’s a great gift!

Winter Weddings

November 30, 2009

Tomorrow is December first……the perfect time to focus on winter weddings.  I just love winter weddings!!  They are so romantic.

One fantastic benefit to a winter wedding is wearing a gorgeous fur or faux fur wrap for all your outdoor pictures.  They add just the perfect amount of glam to the event!

The men can wear really unique winter boutonnieres which look very handsome.

You have a built-in theme with snow flakes and crystals.

Winter white is always stunning and glamorous especially when accented with either silver or gold.  However, there are so many rich colors that can make a winter wedding just as beautiful and often times a bit more un-traditional.

 Eggplant   Navy   Red

 Gold  Silver  Chocolate

I have an upcoming wedding in January and the bride is going to focus on branches and crystals…..I’ll post pictures once I have them.  To get some more ideas check out a fantastic winter wedding with chocolate and cerise colors.

Midwest Destination

November 12, 2009

Amanda and David wanted to have a destination wedding but it was too difficult for their families to travel too far a distance.  The couple live in Chicago but the groom’s family is from Ohio.  They decided to have their wedding in Galena, IL.  A really beautiful little town with a  lot of charm.  The happy couple had many special memories in Galena during the years they dated.  They always celebrated their anniversary in the adorable town.

I wanted to focus on how beyond beautiful their ceremony was…..does this look like Illinois?  The ceremony was over looking a river and of course big trees and a sunny day completed the perfect romantic vibe.  A butterfly even landed on her dress in the middle of the ceremony!  I think that is a great sign of many years of health and happiness!

The bride chose navy blue and apple green which really complimented the natural landscape of the location.

The reception was held at the Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa.   It was a beautiful resort with a fantastic ballroom with floor to ceiling windows.  If you are dreaming of a destination wedding but still hope all your friends and family can attend you don’t have to travel too far; you can find beauty close to home.  A romantic weekend doesn’t have to be in the tropics!

A lot of couples are skipping the guest book all together these days!  I don’t blame them, the old address style book is out dated.  Not to mention, you already have everyone’s addresses since you mailed them an invitation!   I really recommend having a modern guest book so you can preserve your guest’s warm wishes.

Wish bowls: This gives the guests a chance to write a special note.  You can even theme the wish bowl with something like “advice for the newly weds.” After the wedding it will be nice  to read all the messages from your friends and family.  You can put all the cards in an album and keep it on your coffee table.

Wish trees: Same idea as the wish bowl just a different presentation.  You can buy very large branches for larger groups.  The guests will enjoy this fun project.

Photo album guest books: They are the perfect keepsake for years to come.  The guests really enjoy looking at pictures of the happy couple during the dating years.  It is really nice for distant family members who may not know you as well….gives them a taste of your personalities together as a couple.

Wish quilt:  I just love this idea! You know you’ll get a lot of use out of this!  What a great way to snuggle up on a cold day!

Coffee table guest book:  This is from my wedding!  I used www.blurb.com to create this custom book.  I got so many compliments on the book.  The guests wrote between all the pictures with silver markers (very similar to the photo album).  I honestly do still read the warm wishes and guests that come over always want to look through it.
